Cryovast Systems
Cryosleep, stasis, and medical containment. Everyone who crosses the Sphere spends months unconscious and helpless inside a Cryovast box, and nobody has ever thought about it for longer than a minute.
Overview
Cryovast builds the pods. In a system where a crossing takes months and the ship cannot carry the food, water, air or sanity for a waking crew, the pod is not a convenience — it is the reason travel is possible at all. Cryovast also makes the adjacent things nobody markets: stasis for cargo that must not age, and medical containment for the things that must not get out.
Its holdings are cold by design. Titan Mire — methane lakes and cryo-chemical harvesting rigs — is home turf. Coldharbor is a frozen tundra colony with a stubborn settler culture. Rime is a glacier world of ice-cathedrals and frozen shipwrecks. Pallor is a pale ash-and-bone desert used as a plague-quarantine world, and it is on the list for the same reason as the others.
Infrastructural power, not political
Cryovast is the clearest example of the axis the secondary tier runs on. AstraCore is a utility that decided to become a kingmaker; Cryovast is the same kind of company that never bothered. Everyone depends on it daily, it does not campaign, it does not posture, and it is not in the room where anything is decided.
Which makes it a superb target. Nobody guards a utility the way they guard a power broker. Cryovast has the security posture of a company that has never been anyone's enemy, protecting an installed base that includes every person in transit in the Sphere.
