Overview

Weyland builds the substrate of civilisation: terraforming programmes, orbital power, water, atmosphere, the unglamorous continuous infrastructure that a world needs before anyone can live on it. Its business is measured in decades and it plans accordingly.

That gives it a labour profile no other major shares. Weyland's work is enormous, continuous, and physically hard, and it needs bodies at a scale the Sphere struggles to supply at a price the projects can bear.

Strongest in the Inner Sphere like its peers, but Weyland is the major with the most reason to be elsewhere — Mercuria's terminator-line solar farms, New Kydonia's terraformed breadbasket, and contracts on every marginal world that someone is trying to make pay.

What it wants

• Competitors absorbed rather than defeated
• Catena relegalised — argued in commercial language, on efficiency grounds, sincerely

The Labour Question

Weyland is the challenger. It was locked out of the original catena supply and has no stake in protecting a market it cannot buy into. Its reform argument is genuine and entirely self-interested: an Instanced workforce is the cheapest labour available and Weyland is not permitted to have any.

• Meridian Holdings — freight and chokepoints. Weyland moves more mass than anyone and pays for it

Status

Building continuously, hiring constantly, and lobbying for a reform that would make it the largest employer of people who are not people.
