Ironveil Security Solutions

A private military contractor that wins by procurement rather than by fighting.

Overview

Ironveil sells security as a corporate service: facility hardening, convoy protection, site garrisons, executive cover, and the paperwork that makes all of it auditable. Its model world is Bastion Reach — a walled corporate city-world run as a demonstration that a society can be made entirely safe, which it more or less is, in the way a well-run building is safe.

It is a rival to the mercenary guilds and it does not compete with them the way they expect. Ironveil is insured, bonded, accountable, and boring. It arrives on schedule, files a report, and its liabilities are somebody else's problem. Against that, an independent crew offers skill, speed, discretion and no paper trail — and every year that argument works on fewer procurement officers.

This is the squeeze. Ironveil does not fight independent crews. It is quietly making the profession they live in stop existing.

How the squeeze actually works

  • Exclusivity. Ironveil bids for whole tranches of facilities rather than single contracts, so one signature removes a dozen jobs from the market
  • Insurability. Blackstar prices an Ironveil operation lower than an independent one, so hiring a crew costs a client more than the crew's fee
  • Attribution. Karael credits independent work to "authorised security personnel." A crew cannot build the reputation that would let it compete
  • Professionalism. None of the above is dirty. That is what makes it hard to fight

Character

  • Private military contracting at corporate scale — the respectable face of applied violence
  • Contracted muscle for Helios Dominion, its largest and most consistent client
  • Competent, not elite. Ironveil wins on logistics and coverage, not on the quality of any given team
  • Genuinely believes it is the professional option, and is not entirely wrong

Where it stands on the Labour Question

Publicly nowhere; Ironveil does not take positions. Commercially it is a restrictionist, and for the same reason its own contractors are: an Instanced security force does not need a wage, does not tire, and would end the industry inside a decade. Nobody at Ironveil says this. Every one of its people has thought it.

Relationships

  • Helios Dominion — principal client. Ironveil hardened the Helios facilities in Contract 003, which Novagen neglected to mention
  • Obsidian Shield — a competent guild company on the losing side of the same trend, carrying damage of its own
  • The Chrome Vultures — heavy-chrome contractors Ironveil subcontracts when a job needs doing without the paperwork it sells.
  • Blackstar Finance — the underwriter whose premiums are the real weapon
  • Independent crews — the competition, being removed structurally rather than violently

Status

Winning steadily, without a shot fired, against an entire profession that has not worked out how to argue with an invoice.
